Happy New Year! I hope you and yours are off to a great 2022! I am excited to get back to blogging and hope you are excited to hear from me a little bit more :).
We had a nice long Christmas break. In fact, we are still on it, home with sick kiddos. We enjoyed spending lots of time with family. Our older three performed in a children’s choir for Christmas Eve service which was super special. We really enjoyed doing something fun with cousins instead of exchanging presents. We also celebrated my younger sister’s 30th birthday with a lip synch battle that had us all cracking up!
We decked the halls, and have now been clearing the halls like many of you I’m sure! I’m not sure my halls are ever clear though, watch where you step! On New Year’s day I planted a toooooon of bulbs. My hand is still a bit sore! I still haven’t figured out my bunny situation though so we will see how that turns out. Assuming they bloom! It is exciting to think about Spring, even though it finally just got cold here, ha! I just love flowers.
On the blog I plan to fill you in on changes around our home. I also want to share some older things I never got around to posting, I hope you don’t mind.
Resolutions
We talked about New Year Resolutions with our crew, do you? I am not super passionate about them one way or the other, but I do think goal setting is an important life skill! Last year my goal was to stop yelling, or yell less…I am not sure I succeeded, ha! Also, I did not make that my resolution for this year🙃.
I have been saying for a while that I wanted to have a “working on” chart or something like that posted around our house to say little things we are all working on or towards. Working towards being better humans or acquiring new skills. For example tying your own shoes, saying yes ma’am, keeping fingers out of your mouth, being more helpful, sleeping all night in your bed, writing your name, etc. etc. I do want to try to do that and so resolutions for ’22 was a good place to get started. We talked about it, but I didn’t write anything down officially, maybe I will or maybe I wont. Maybe a dry erase board type thing so we can change/update?!
Anyways, Henry and Emma both made goals to read 100 chapter books (at their level). I thought that was a great tangible goal. So, I printed out 100 lines for them and let them write their name and title at the top. I hope they keep up with it, I am pretty sure I won’t be able to keep up with them. They both love to read🤓. But at some point they have to be in charge of themselves, right? Right!? I will include it for you to print if that’s interesting to you. Could be for 100 anything! Acts of kindness maybe?
See you soon!
So what do you want to be filled in on next!? Changes around my house? Future plans? Things we’ve bought and liked? Recipes? Our (not so recent) travels?
And what about you!? What have you been up to? Do you have a resolution for the new year?
Wishing you a wonderful 2022!
