Winter Coloring Page

Hello! I hope you all are staying warm. I feel like it took a long time for winter to make its way to Texas, but it is here now! No snow in our near future, though. I still can’t believe our snow days from last year. We call one of them the “fun snow day” and it really was the best! I even printed out a big ‘ole picture of my kiddos and it hangs right outside our bedroom. I love it. And then we had the WORST snow day, days, week, ugh I am still worried about that happening again!

This picture literally warms my heart! The fun snow day! Henry, Emma, Elle, and HankπŸ§‘πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’™

The Juggling Penguin

But! Back to the fun stuff! I have a simple little coloring page for those of you with little ones out there.

Introducing the juggling penguin!

Juggling-Penguin

If you have littles, do you like things like this? I love little random things during my day when I am home with toddlers that kind of organically enter my day. Do you? Like oh hey, let’s do this! A little spontaneity if you will, haha! I think coloring pages are super fun to make though, so I would love to keep incorporating them if you like them, too. Let me know if you do, and if they are easy to print off.

Paper Snowflakes

These snowflakes also remind me that we didn’t make coffee filter snowflakes this year. We usually make lots, kind of all of December! I definitely need to save that idea for the upcoming weekends this winter, and we have a long weekend coming up next. Another idea for you depending on the age of your kids.

Play Snow

Ok this is totally turning into if you give a mouse a cookie…but this reminds me of PLAY snow! I found some this year at Target and bought two packs. This is the same brand of play snow, a little bit goes a long way. We actually ended up using it for a little at home preschool Christmas party I threw for me and my two littles, while the big kids went to school and had theirs. We had a lot of fun, it didn’t kill as much time as I had hoped, and Elle didn’t think it was cold enough…buuuuut it was as close to real snow as we could get! Have you ever let your kids play with it? If you live where you don’t get snow much I think it’s worth it at least one time. I think the last time we played with it was for Emma’s Frozen birthday party when she turned 4.

Winter Books

Today I went through our books and grabbed all the winter themed books. Would you be interested in a round up of those? I still haven’t put away our bins of Christmas books yet. They love them so much, but I do know they will be that much more special next December if I tuck them away soon. Or maybe not, maybe my kids just think Im crazy and mean for hiding our books about Christmas LOL. Oh well, I’m in charge! Right? Right!?

Rotating Books

Do you rotate your children’s books? When the time comes, we just pull out seasonal ones. We are very lucky that my mom is always helping to grow our libraries with the best children’s books! We also have a lot from my teaching days, and even my sister’s.

Finding a Special Place

Pulling seasonal books and putting them in a special basket or bin (that you already have, doesn’t need to be fancy), has been a huge hit with my PreK kiddo this year. And of course my 2 year old will tag along then. I love reading to them and it is definitely part of our daily routines, but also one of the things I find doing most with them when I play with them. It has been different with each child and combination of kiddos. We have gone through phases of puzzles, art stuff, games, books…those seem to be our things. Which are all pretty fun to play :).

What are you doing to keep busy during the winter days? Going to start your day coloring? Whatever you are up to I hope have a wonderful wintry day!
