February Touches

Hello! I wanted to share a few February touches around my home with you. Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day which means we will be half way through the month! I didn’t get my decor up until Monday (I think?), but I will leave it up the rest of the month. Then it’s March madness for us with two kiddo’s birthdays.

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? My favorite thing I put up is a little heart banner I made with different scraps of red fabric. I really should fasten it so they stay spaced out, but am lazy and actually think it is kind of sweet how they have been nesting together.

Last year my sister bought me this adorable heart gingham pillow from Target. I LOVE it, and it goes perfect with the banner! I think it is funky next to the striped pillow that is also from her…didn’t work in her home, lucky me.

These little wooden hearts are still going strong and were a fun activity to do as a family. I arranged them a little differently this year, and in a new spot.

I keep my Vday decor in a box along with keepsakes. I picked their wreaths to hang up this year. I love that they are all the same, but different. They work perfect hanging on the handles, and don’t get in the way. We USE our house, so if decorations get in the way or take up valuable real estate, it is kind of annoying.

In the art center, I hung a few more crafts in the window. I have more special things they have made, and I enjoyed looking at them in my box, but didn’t feel like I needed to pull it all out…

Especially because our entire art center has been taken over 😆. I wish this was staged, but it’s just reality. I hope my mom doesn’t see the glitter, she will lose sleep.

I have one other box that I keep old Valentine extras, anything heart/red/pink related and let them go to town. Three kiddos needed boxes this year. I wrapped one in white craft paper, and the other two wanted pink wrapping paper that I had from my niece’s baby shower. Then, all they had to do was decorate, and Dad cut the hole. Teamwork makes the dream work.

They each got to make their cards however they wanted. We bought DumDums for everyone at special request of Elle for her friend with allergies.

For my youngest, Hank, I cut cardstuck down to size, he wrote his name 20 times, and he helped me attatch the suckers with washi tape. Then, he put stickers on until he was bored. I honestly had no idea what Elle was doing but she requested pink ribbon, so I got her some…I think they’re adorable and I wouldn’t have thought to sign the sucker 🤣. I can’t find Emma’s, they could be on that table somewhere, but I have a feeling she has some work to do after school.

I didn’t get my kids anything for Valentine’s Day, but I did buy a box of sugary cereal.

Last year, I got them special spoons that we use all year. I pulled the melamine heart dishes out, I love them so much. We try not to use paper products. Sometimes I am tempted because they come up with the cutest stuff, but since I have spent money on these things it helps me not. Plus, I think these things will become “nostalgic” for them. Maybe not though, ha. Whatever, they’re cute.

Do you decorate at all for February? Did craft supplies explode in your house? Maybe you hate Valentine’s Day lol!? Either way, I hope you have a great day tomorrow with the people you love!
