I am so excited about our new bookshelf in this corner! This is our breakfast nook and where we eat most of our meals. I have a lot of “spots”, and that wooden chair is one of them. Before the bookshelf, the little blue table was shifted to the right with art above it. Now you are up to speed.

Lucky for me, I had a friend to pick up these IKEA boxes with and a husband who put them together for me🥰.

The bookshelf is a blue green color, although it looks pretty dark in my pink kitchen in these pictures. They had the shelves to look at in person, and I thought they looked true to their online pictures. I recently painted my hallway a dark green and I think this brings that warmth into this room.

The plant is propped up on a few pieces of cardboard because the bookshelf does dip down below the decorative trim. I think I should do it to the orange picture frame as well, but haven’t. The silver frame is a place holder. I had it on hand, but think I like it there and need my other two kids in it to keep the score even.
These are all my cookbooks. Now they are easily accessible and I have more pantry space, yay!
The shelves are only 11 inches deep, so some of my baskets won’t work, but I had enough that do. I have been taking tons of my moms old Longaberger baskets and putting them to use, and making some of them over.
The bowls are from my parents, via Anthro gift card, thank you! I am excited to have this “pasta” sized bowl in our lives!

The little table is also from my parents and I painted it blue. The lamp next to the bookshelf is painted white and I am brainstorming ideas to add some charm to it.

The artwork looks so fun on this wall. Donald (amazon frame!) by my son, an etsy photo of a special place in Utah, and a painting by me!

I had been itching to rearrange and do something new, and this totally did the trick. There is still some reorganizing to be done, and I have more empty spaces. Hopefully, some of the space will stay empty because I always need extra space for parties, holidays, etc. I am really surprised at how much area I had to work with in this space that wasn’t really meeting its full potential, ha! It is still easy to get on the other side of our table. Our dish towels, drying towels, and napkins are all more readily available and look pretty displayed in baskets.

My sister wanted a picture from further back, not sure she was ready for this🤪, but that is definitely what it looks like when something extra is happening.

The next day, I moved this pillow to my window seat and I think it looks so cheerful and sweet. Pretty soon I will add a little Valentine decor. You can see how far this nook has come in that old post.
This is definitely a special space in our home, and I love how this bookshelf has made it cozier, and more functional! I keep thinking I need fairy lights or something on or in it…too much? We already keep our curtain lights up year round!
I have been spending a lot more time on Pinterest lately, specifically looking at home stuff. Do you have a space you could add a bookshelf? Or an area that could have more function that is kind of “wasted space”? Where do you like to look for ideas for your home? Let me know, maybe it will spur on more ideas for me and others!
